Quality Assurance in Epr

چکیده
There are many aspects of obtaining good EPR data, for which there is need for a standard, or calibrant, to aid in determining uncertainty and reproducibility of the results. There should be a calibrant/standard for almost every variable known to affect the EPR signal, whether CW (linear or nonlinear) or time-domain. In the past, EPR standards have primarily focused on three issues: g-value, spin concentration, and signal-to-noise (1,2,3). Although continued work on these standards is still needed, there is need for a wider variety of standards as the field of EPR develops. EPR has been primarily CW, X-band, linear response region, magnetic field scan, homogeneous magnetic field, using a TE102 cavity (4). EPR is (or is becoming) multi-frequency, multidimensional, nonlinear, time domain, using purposebuilt resonators, often in gradient fields to study heterogeneous samples (5-8). Our thinking must progress from standard samples to overall quality assurance for this new era.
